We Asked, You Responded: What Are You Doing Now to Influence Your Leadership Legacy?

How do you want to be remembered as a leader? And, why is this important? This is much more than an academic writing exercise. Proactively considering what your coworkers, employees, clients or customers will think, say, and do after you have moved on is a method for ensuring that your leadership values and vision also continue to live on, over time

In this recent post, A Leadership Legacy: Memories of Walt Disney, we showcased a video featuring Disney Cast Members sharing their memories of who Walt Disney was as a leader. We think it perfectly illustrates one of the key principles we share in our leadership training courses: The best leadership legacy is not one that is fondly remembered, but one that is actively emulated.

It’s true…no matter how successful you are at whatever you do, ultimately your leadership success will be measured by how people act in the future. Will they perpetuate the values you instilled? Will they relentlessly pursue your vision for the organization?

Recently, we asked our fans this question: What are the most important actions and behaviors a leader should demonstrate now to inspire others to emulate in the future? While we couldn’t share them all, we received many engaging, thoughtful and inspiring responses. Here are few of the highlights:
