Think back to the days when you were a child. You knew you could be anything -- an astronaut, rock-star or maybe even a Disney animator. But then you grew up, and realized there are limits to what you can do. Or are there? At Disney, we pride ourselves on never saying: "That cant happen." Rather, we ask, "How can we make that happen?"
The next time your team comes together for a brainstorming session, try clearing your mind of all the limits that have built up over the years. Think like a child, and imagine how youll become president, or an astronaut. Maybe even a Disney animator. Here are three child-like activities to make your next brainstorming session a success:
1. Clay Sculpting: Provide sculpting clay is a great way to stimulate minds of your team. It will work the same way as a stress ball, but ads even more freedom for creativity.
2. Coloring: Supply your team with bright markers along with sheets of butcher paper. The over-sized drawing space and bold colors will encourage larger than life ideas. Remember that it is always easier to scale down an idea than scale up, so think big!
3. Collage Building: Collecting magazine and newspaper images are a great way take an idea or concept and visualize it. Try asking a question and have your team answer through a collage. It will take them down a different path of thinking that could inspire an undiscovered solution.
