What do customers remember more — products or people? When Walt Disney determined the answer was people, he hit upon a fundamental business truth that led to the immediate and sustained success of The Walt Disney Company. At Disney, we synchronize the mission of each Cast member with the culture of the whole organization to create an extraordinary Guest (customer) and Cast (employee) experience. How do we do this? It starts with extraordinary attention to detail in our hiring and training processes that ensures we hire and develop people who fit our culture. We then create and nurture a work environment that reinforces engagement.

Course Benefits

By applying the time-tested Disney approach, you will learn insights that will help your organization not only hire the people that best fit your culture, but also shape them into employees who are comfortable in their roles and know their purpose. Organizational Culture

Disney has a foundation created by a vibrant traditions, quality standards, and shared values. At each and every Disney Destination around the world, these are the pillars upon which our culture is built. By design, we cultivate unique traits and behaviors, and introduce language, symbols, processes, and styles to distinguish Disney in the marketplace. By protecting and nurturing our culture, we remain committed, focused, and ready to achieve new business goals. In this course you will discover the link between desired behaviors and culture and how it impacts organizational results.

Selecting Right-Fit Talent

Attitude outweighs aptitude. At Disney, we ensure our cultural standards thrive by considering a potential employee's attitude not simply hiring a candidate to fill an open position. Ensuring we are finding the right person for the right role, our internal employment operation called Disney Casting, must answer the needs of both our customers and employees. You will learn new ways to think about your selection process to find "right-fit" people and recognize opportunities to improve culture even when a candidate is not a "right-fit."

Training the Culture

Disney training is a comprehensive strategy designed to develop skills, while promoting and reinforcing our Company's values, history, and processes. Our training instills confidence in our Cast Members, reinforces our culture, brings organizational goals to life, and increases productivity and efficiency. You will experience what our training journey looks and feels like and then learn how it is achieved within an organization.

Communicating to Inform and Inspire

Genuine listening and intentional communication show you care about your employees. At Disney, we carefully craft our messages so Cast Members hear and understand that their actions enhance our shared values and the Disney legacy for future Cast Members. By understanding where we've been, they become connected with the leadership vision that will guide us into the future. You will learn how to create high-quality communication that can engage your employees and influence an organization from your newest hires to employees with the longest tenure.

Creating an Environment of Care

Gratitude improves attitude — that is one reason we express sincere appreciation, empathy, and support to every Cast Member. We recognize accomplishments, involve Cast Members in developing customer service strategies, and give them opportunities to make the best use of their talents and skills. It is a mutually beneficial practice — better working relationships result in employees understanding their value to the company and what each person brings to the goal of delivering exceptional customer experiences. You will learn about the deep level of genuine care necessary to positively impact employees, your organization, and ultimately your customers.
