Improving the Work of Underperforming Employees
When an employee’s performance begins to slide, it’s important to first make sure he/she is aware of their underperformance. An initial casual conversation in private can determine if there is an underlying problem such as a personal or work-related issue.
When you talk with your employee, re-explain the expectations and create an action plan with behavioral check-ins. Creating an environment where employees can share what’s going on is crucial to employee satisfaction. More often than not employees want to succeed and it’s important to provide the tools and communication for their success.
